Artista
David Delany is an artist originally from Berkeley, California, where he was based from 1968 to 2018. He has traveled extensively and has lived in Spain, Italy, South America and India. He speaks English and Spanish fluently. David has a degree in Liberal Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara, with specializations in Studio Art, History and Anthropology. Delany considers himself a rationalist with a deeply revolutionary spirit, which he recognizes in figures such as Walt Whitman, Kandinsky, Picasso, Voltaire, Thomas Jefferson, Ignacio Ramírez "The Necromancer" and Bob Dylan.
In 2019 he sailed to Mexico, where he has been living and painting since. Currently, his new work is exhibited in San Miguel de Allende, in the birthplace of Ignacio Ramírez, El Nigromante, with the sponsorship of the University of Guanajuato. Light and its obstacles are the central discourse of these pictorial works. They are translucent canvases illuminated by LED lights or the sun's rays. Light filtration offers multiple possible effects and serves various purposes. The place, the concept, the community and the audience contribute and conclude the function and work of this artistic manifestation.
"My goal is to continually experiment and grow on a personal level. The reward of artistic practice is the evolution of the artist. My art is very flexible, it is light. Light enters everywhere. There is no place where light does not enter. The "Light clears any obstacle or stays there permanently. Love is the only power that breaks down obstacles. Light is what we are."
- Delany, David
